Audrey's 2 year old birthday is officially one month away and I am stunned at how fast it has gone! She is truly such a joy to our lives and makes us smile every day. She is a huge bookworm these days and loves to read - she has various books that are her favorites that she carries with her everywhere and will sit down and "read" them to you from memory. Audrey also loves to sing. Her favorite song is "Jesus Loves Me" and she has become very well versed at break out performances for family and friends. Her daddy always encourages her to sing at the top of her lungs - not sure how her new little brother or sister will feel about that :) She knows her alphabet and can count to almost 20, which I have to say we got help learning from the PBS educational shows she watches some mornings. She goes to a Mother's Day Out program once a week at a local church and really enjoys her teacher Nonna. Our evening prayers usually involve thanking Jesus for her as well as every other member of our extended family! Audrey is very motherly and loves taking care of her dolls. All of that practice is going to make her a great big sister come October!

How in the world did Audrey get to be 18 months old? It has gone so fast which makes me worry about how fast the rest of her childhood will go! She loves the shirt on the head routine!

I must tell you that we are really enjoying Audrey these days. At 17 months, she has the cutest personality, and honestly blows us away by how smart she is. She can already almost count to ten with help of course, but I would say that's quite an accomplishment! She is mimicking words we say so well, and puts two words together like a pro. I can ask her a question and have her respond "yes" or "no" and usually she knows why she is responding that way. She received 2 baby dolls for Christmas and is working her mommy skills as she pretends to take them on walks and care for them. She also sits at her new table and chairs set and plays with her "Little People" city, and I am loving that independent play time which allows me to unload the dishwasher, or put a load of laundry in. Now, this may all seem totally normal for a kid her age, but I am just truly enjoying the experience of watching my girl grow, learn, and develop right before my eyes. It is new every day, and it's an incredible blessing.

Audrey is 15 months old this weekend. What a ball of energy! We will be taking her for her first airplane ride this coming week over to East Tennessee to the Smoky Mountains to spend some time with Jacob's family in Pigeon Forge. It should be an adventure! Here she is with her Mimi at the park in Hoover, AL.

Audrey enjoys our daily walk to the mailbox to check the mail! She is 14 months old now and constantly on the go! She is taking one nap a day, so we usually run our errands in the morning. She really knows a lot of words and asks for her juice,

Audrey is a very busy one year old these days. She spends her days following Mama around the house, playing peek-a-boo around the stair wall in our den, "reading" her books over and over again, pulling out all the bottles in the drawers in our bathroom, pointing to various photos on the wall so she can look at the people she knows, and of course napping (still twice a day) and eating. We have recently moved to whole milk and no longer need formula. She likes it pretty well, but still wants a warm bottle before bed. We love that waves and says "Hi" and "bah bye" and gives us kisses whenever we ask. It's fun to watch her discover things for the first time, like the cotton ball she found in the bathroom last week. She thought the texture was very odd. We really enjoy her so much!

It's so hard for us to believe that Audrey is now 11 months old! She's becoming more and more like a toddler as opposed to a baby these days. She knows what she wants and does not want and lets us know without hesitation. She took her first steps last month, and continues to walk short distances around our house, getting into everything she can find. She giggles a lot, especially at her Daddy, and has such a playful personality. Teething has been the tough part these past few weeks, and she is working on her fifth and sixth teeth right now.

It really seems like Audrey has grown up so much since turning 8 months old. Her personality is coming out more all the time, and she is quite the squealer! She just started crawling a week ago and so now we are busy making sure our house is baby proof. It's hard to believe she will be 9 months old this weekend!

8 weeks to go and counting! June 6, 2007
Yesterday I was officially at 32 weeks. My doctor's appointment went well and things look great! Audrey continues to move a lot and give me entertainment, and so far I'm not miserably uncomfortable yet. This past weekend Jacob's aunt Julia Paxton threw a baby shower for me at her house. My mom was able to make the trip up from Birmingham to attend and it was a really good to see everyone and celebrate this exciting time. As you can see from the photo, everyone was incredibly generous and Jacob and I feel like we have everything we need - now we just need the baby! Our childbirth classes have started as well, and they have been fun so far, although I still haven't decided whether they will make me more or less nervous for the delivery. I just have to remind myself that women have been doing this since the beginning of time! Plus I know that "the Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song" Psalm 28:7

How we found out:
We found out I was pregnant on Friday, Dec. 8. I went home at lunch with a terrible headache that I thought was making me sick to my stomach. Just to be sure though, I bought a pregnancy test on my way home. Sure enough there was a reason for not feeling well! I wanted to surprise Jacob so I went out and bought a baby U. of Memphis t-shirt and put it in a bag and hung it on the garage door where he found it when he came home. He couldn't stop smiling when he came in the door and said "this won't fit me!" and I said "it's not supposed to dad!" We were both totally overjoyed by this answer to prayer.
Our first doctor's visit
We went to our first doctor's visit on Dec. 18th and they did an internal ultrasound so we could get some measurements to see how far along I was. The baby just looked like a little bean on the screen, but you could see the heart beating already - even at just 7 1/2 weeks!!! Here is our first ultrasound picture!

We told our families
We were able to surprise our families and tell them at Christmas. We were in Birmingham this year, so on Christmas Eve, I had my parents open the first ultrasound picture that I had framed. My mom totally flipped out with excitement. Yes, she was jumping up and down, and I think my dad was in shock at first, but they are all so excited. We were able to tell all of Jacob's family and grandparents at once when we celebrated Christmas with them on the 28th back in Memphis.
It's a girl!!
We had our ultrasound appointment on Thursday, March 8th at 4:00, and I have to admit I was pretty nervous about the whole thing. It was such a relief to see her little body growing so intricately inside of me.
We got to see her little face profile, spine, bladder, stomach, and the 4 chambers of her heart. We also got some great views of her little hands and feet! I was 19 weeks along at the time, and with her measurements, they say she weighs about 9 oz - so tiny still! Jacob was so proud because he is the one who thought it would be a girl from the beginning. We feel so incredibly blessed and cannot wait to meet her in person!
